Indonesia and Brunei Strengthen Connectivity Cooperation: Reopening of the Bandar Seri Begawan-Balikpapan Flight Route

(AseanAll)  —  “The reactivation of the Bandar Seri Begawan-Balikpapan flight route is a very significant moment in the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam. This step is a realization of the strong commitment to enhancing connectivity between nations, cultures, and the economies of both countries.”

This statement was delivered by the Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Prof. Dr. Achmad Ubaedillah, during a reception organized by Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) to mark the relaunch of RBA’s direct flight to Balikpapan in Bandar Seri Begawan on January 7,2025.

The Ambassador also encouraged all parties to collaborate in further improving Brunei’s connectivity with other cities in Indonesia.

Brunei’s Minister of Development and Chairman of RBA, Mohd Juanda bin Hj Abdul Rashid, was the Guest of Honor at the reception, which was also attended by the CEO of Royal Brunei Airlines, representatives of the Brunei business community, and members of the Indonesian community in Brunei Darussalam.

The event featured a traditional tumpeng cutting ceremony and cultural performances showcasing Indonesian regional dances, performed by representatives of the Indonesian community in Brunei and facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan.

RBA’s inaugural flight to Balikpapan is scheduled for February 19, 2025. Additionally, RBA will host a reception in Balikpapan on February 21, 2025, as part of the series of ceremonies celebrating the relaunch of the direct Bandar Seri Begawan-Balikpapan flight route.
