The 19th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus Experts’ Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations held in Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan,December 11 (AseanAll)  — The 19th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus Experts’ Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations  (ADMM-Plus EWG on PKO) was held at the Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong,Brunei from 9 to 11 December 2024. 

The meeting was co-chaired by Yang Mulia Colonel (U) Hismawadi bin Haji Mohd Said, Head of the Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre, Joint Force Headquarters Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Senior Colonel Zhang Qilin, Senior Officer for Peacekeeping J3, Joint Staff Department, the People's Liberation Army of China.

In attendance were Yang Mulia Marina binti Abdullah Sitau, Acting Director of Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence, along with representatives from both countries, namely Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Liberation Army of China. 

The year’s meeting was attended by 67 participants from ASEAN-Plus countries, ASEAN Secretariat as well as from the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste as an observer country.

The meeting commenced with a report from the ADMM-Plus EWG on PKO, shared by the Co-Chairs, which highlighted several activities throughout the first quarter of 5th cycle, 2024-2027.  This meeting is one of the planned activities under the 5th Cycle of ADMM-Plus EWG on PKO which focuses on the theme “Current Challenges and Future Development of United Nation Peace-Keeping Operations”.
