Brunei and South Korea convenes the 1st Defence Policy Dialogue (DPD)

(AseanAll)  — The Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam and Ministry of National Defense, the Republic of Korea(South Korea) conducted the 1st Defence Policy Dialogue (DPD) at the Ministry of National Defense Headquarter, Yongsan, Seoul, the Republic of Korea on November 7, 2024 .

The Dialogue was co-chaired by Yang Mulia Poh Kui Choon, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam and Lee Seung-buhm, Director General of International Policy Bureau, Ministry of National Defense, the Republic of Korea. 

The DPD discussed the progress of bilateral defence cooperation and explored opportunities for future defence interactions. The conduct of the inaugural Dialogue is also part of the activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea.

The DPD between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea was established through the Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation signed on 13 September 2018. The DPD serves as a mechanism for both countries to discuss and seek opportunities to cooperate in future bilateral initiatives and jointly exchange information and knowledge on matters of mutual interest.
