Phnom Penh, April 30 (AseanAll) — On April 29-30,2024, the Sultan of Brunei paid a courtesy visit to Cambodia.

According to Cambodia state news agecy AKP, Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, accompanied by his son, Prince Mateen, arrived on the evening of April 29, 2024 in Phnom Penh for a short visit in Cambodia.
The Sultan of Brunei was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia.



“The purpose of his (the Sultan of Brunei) visit is to come and have breakfast with me who he treats as the youngest brother,” said Hun Sen in a Facebook post on April 27.
“There are three brothers, the eldest is the Sultan of Brunei, the second is H.E. Thaksin Shinawatra (former prime minister of Thailand), and I’m the youngest,” he continued.
According to Hun Sen, there was no official meeting. For the breakfast on April 30, the Sultan was accompanied by his son, Prince Mateen, while Hun Sen by his three sons – Hun Manet(Cambodian PM), Hun Manith, and Hun Many(Cambodian Dupty PM).
The Cambodian senate president said it is not strange for him to welcome in person the Sultan of Brunei at the airport and accompany him to the hotel, recalling that in 2011 when he went to Brunei, the Sultan drove by himself to welcome him at the airport and accompany him to the hotel as well.
After the breakfast, Hun Sen pointed out, he will see the Sultan of Brunei off at the airport.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, attended a Breakfast, hosted by Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which took place at Rosewood Phnom Penh Hotel. Accompanying was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen. Also present at the event were Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia; Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service of the Kingdom of Cambodia; and Lieutenant General Hun Manith, Head of General Department of Research and Intelligence, Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia.

The Sultan was in Phnom Penh for a Courtesy Visit with His Excellency Hun Sen, which among other things reflects the warm, close and long-standing relations between the Leaders of Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Cambodia, in which such close ties will serve as a catalyst in achieving shared well-being and prosperity.
