Bandar Seri Begawan, February 19 (AseanAll) — On 16 February 2024, Brunei's 40th National Day celebration began with a giant flag hoisting ceremony in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.
The raising of the giant national flag was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad, Brunei Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The giant-sized flag was raised by 20 personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) led by 1399 Leftenan Junior Grade Muhammad Rawandi bin Moksin, RBN, in the vicinity of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
The theme for this year’s 40th National Day celebration is Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara, in line with the nation’s aspirations of Brunei Vision 2035. The RBN takes immense pride in upholding this tradition, their participation symbolizing the vital role they play in safeguarding and honoring the nation's emblem.
