Royal Brunei Land Force and Singapore Army Concludes Exercise MAJU BERSAMA

(AseanAll)  — The closing ceremony of Exercise MAJU BERSAMA Series 26/2023 was held on 25 January 2024 at the Fighting in Built-Up Areas Complex, Penanjong Garrison,Brunei. The exercise was conducted from 20 to 25 January 2024 which involved troops from Third Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force (3Bn RBLF) and First Battalion Singapore Infantry Regiment (1SIR).

Present as the guests of honour were Brigadier General Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman, Commander of RBLF and Major General David Neo, the Chief of Army of the Singapore Army, who officially closed the exercise. Also present to witness the ceremony were the Acting Field Commander RBLF, senior officers, officers, personnel, and representatives from both the Singapore Army and RBLF.

The closing ceremony commenced with the inspection of the parade, followed by the handing over of the flag to 1SIR. Brigadier General Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman and Major General David Neo then delivered the closing speeches.

In the Commander of RBLF’s speech, he emphasised that Exercise MAJU BERSAMA had provided both armies with the platform to share knowledge and experience in tactics, techniques, and procedures, covering operations in the jungle setting, riverine environment, and in built-up areas. This, he stated, further enhances the soldiering skills and professionalism of their soldiers that mutually benefitted both armies.

The exercise’s primary objectives were to enhance interoperability, share expertise in planning and urban warfare, and strengthen bilateral relations between Land Forces of both nations. Exercise MAJU BERSAMA serves as a symbol of enduring defence relations between the participating nations, promising to thrive and endure for years to come.
