The Head of the 5th Brigade, Colonel Thongsamay Soukpaseuth, delivered a report on the work of the division and its successes in recent years.
The 5th Brigade was established on February 17, 1982, by the Lao Ministry of National Defence, charged with maintaining security in the four southern provinces.

Officers assist with crop growing and livestock farming to feed the troops and help to improve the lives of army personnel in other ways. They also play a leading role in building Party units through political support and fostering loyalty and diligence among the younger generation of officials, as well as contributing to the political work and successes of various government bodies.

The President also advised officers to support social and economic development in rural areas, and at all times to be guided by the Party’s policies on national development, as well as comply with all regulations.
