The Sultan of Brunei meets the Emperor of Japan in Tokyo

Tokyo,December 16(AseanAll)  — On December 15, Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam began an Official Visit to Japan by attending a meeting with Naruhito, Emperor of Japan.

According to Radio Television Brunei,the meeting took place at the Imperial Residence, the Imperial Palace in Tokyo,Japan.


The meeting among other things provided the opportunity for the Sultan of Brunei and the Emperor of Japan to further strengthen the bond and friendship between both countries, in which the relationship has also been strengthened through cooperation in energy, trade, education and people-to-people exchanges.


According to Jiji Press,Japanese Emperor Naruhito hailed friendly ties between Japan and Brunei during a meeting with Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on December 15.

Naruhito said it was very pleasant that Japan and Brunei have developed their friendship since the two countries established diplomatic ties about four decades ago, according to the Imperial Household Agency.


Hassanal Bolkiah expressed gratitude for Emperor Naruhito visiting Brunei in 2004 to attend the wedding ceremony of Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah and said he wanted the Emperor to visit his country again.


The 25-minute meeting was also attended by Brunei's Prince Abdul Mateen.
