Da Nang , June 16 (AseanAll) —The ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) held its 42nd Meeting together with the 18th Governing Board of the AHA Centre, 3rd ASEAN Disaster Resilience Platform (ADRP), 5th ACDM Plus China, 5th ACDM Plus Japan, and 4th ACDM Plus ROK. The meeting aimed to enhance regional cooperation in disaster management and humanitarian assistance.
The Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam, as Chair of ACDM in 2023, hosted the meetings on 13-16 June in Da Nang City, Viet Nam, through a Hybrid format.
The meetings noted the progress in the implementation of the AADMER Work Programme 2021-2025, particularly the Ha Long Ministerial Statement on the Strengthening of ASEAN Anticipatory Action in Disaster Management, Mid-term Review of the Implementation of AADMER Work programme 2021-2025, and the plan to conduct ASEAN Disaster Emergency Response Simulation Exercise – 23 in Indonesia and the 1st ASEAN Disaster Resilience Forum as part of the ASEAN Disaster Management Week in Singapore.
The 3rd ADRP Meeting was co-chaired by Chairs of ACDM, Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) and Senior Economic Officials Meeting (SEOM) respectively. They exchanged views on the resilience challenges and updated on the Pilot Project on ASEAN Disaster Resilient Communities: Application of a Whole-of-ASEAN.
The 43rd Meeting of the ACDM, 11th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management and the related meetings are scheduled to be held in person in October 2023 in Ha Long City, Viet Nam.
