(AseanAll) — On September 23, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines held a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. More than a thousand guests attended, including Philippine government officials, members of Congress, friends from various sectors, diplomatic envoys of other countries stationed in the Philippines, and representatives of Chinese-funded institutions, dispatched teachers, and students in the Philippines.

Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Zhou Zhiyong said in his remarks that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, New China has achieved remarkable accomplishments over the past 77 years. This year marks the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, and China will continue to promote high-quality development with steady and sustained progress. China and the Philippines are close neighbors that cannot be moved away from each other, and he expressed the hope that both sides will work together to continuously inject positive energy into China-Philippines relations and bring the bilateral relationship back onto the right track of sound and stable development.

Assistant Secretary Marshall Louis Alferez of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs said in his remarks that the Philippines is committed to dialogue and constructive engagement with China, maintaining the steady development of bilateral relations, and bringing greater benefits to the peoples of both countries and the entire region.
