(AseanAll)  — On September 11, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste held a grand reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. 

Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste Wang Wenli and Timor-Leste’s President José Ramos-Horta delivered speeches. More than 400 guests attended, including timorese government and parliamentary officials and representatives from various sectors, members of the Chinese community, diplomatic corps, and others.

In her speech, Wang Wenli reviewed the great achievements of People’s Republic of China since its founding and by the Communist Party of China over the past 105 years since its founding, especially its economic and social progress this year. 

She elaborated on China’s diplomatic policy of upholding world peace and promoting common development, as well as the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity. 

The Ambassador also highlighted the latest achievements in China-Timor-Leste relations. Ambassador Wang said that China looks forward to working with all sectors of Timor-Leste to advance bilateral relations and build a Timor-Leste–China community with a shared future.

Horta congratulated China on the 77th anniversary of its founding, praised China’s development achievements and its contribution to world peace and development, reaffirmed Timor-Leste’s commitment to the One-China Policy, spoke highly of the four major Global Initiatives and expressed his willingness to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Timor-Leste and China.
