Cebu, May 8 (AseanAll) — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held bilateral talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung in Cebu, the Philippines, on May 7,2026, on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit.
During the meeting, Le Minh Hung thanked Hun Manet for his congratulatory message following his appointment as Prime Minister of Vietnam. He highly valued the progress of Cambodia-Vietnam relations across all sectors and reaffirmed Vietnam’s strong commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation in the future.

The Vietnamese Premier also invited Hun Manet to pay another official visit to Vietnam.
In response, Hun Manet expressed satisfaction with the continued growth of Cambodia-Vietnam ties at the government, party, and people-to-people levels.
The Cambodian Prime Minister noted that 2027 will mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Vietnam, adding that the leaders of both countries have tasked relevant ministries and institutions with preparing commemorative activities for the occasion.
Hun Manet also underscored the importance of introducing additional measures to increase bilateral trade volume to the target of US$20 billion and encouraged more Vietnamese investors to expand investment in Cambodia.
He stressed the need to accelerate coordination on linking the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway with Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway project to facilitate economic activities and travel between the two countries.

In addition, Hun Manet called for simplifying customs and immigration procedures at border checkpoints to ease cross-border travel and trade exchanges.
The two Prime Ministers also discussed initiatives to strengthen and expand cooperation in key sectors, including politics, security and defence, economy, trade, energy, infrastructure connectivity, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
