Hun Sen asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and extend congratulations on the successful inaugural meeting of the Cambodia-China “2+2” strategic dialogue mechanism between foreign and defense ministers, stating that China is Cambodia’s closest and most trustworthy friend.

Hun Sen expressed gratitude for the Chinese side’s long-standing provision of sound medical services and health checkups for the Cambodian royal family, as well as its support for Cambodia’s independent development. China’s support and cooperation are Cambodia’s greatest source of confidence in achieving development and maintaining security. Regardless of changes in the international environment, the Cambodian People’s Party and the government remain unswerving in their commitment to a policy of friendship with China and are firmly determined to advance cooperation with China. Cambodia is willing to strengthen strategic communication and cooperation with China, safeguard political security, and enhance economic resilience to ensure the intergenerational inheritance of Cambodia-China friendship, and to advance  the building of a Cambodia-China community with a shared future to deliver steady new outcomes. Noting that online gambling and telecom fraud endanger the lives, property, and safety of people of all countries as well as Cambodia’s national image, Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that Cambodia is determined to crack down on these crimes to the end and is willing to continue close cooperation with China in this regard.

Wang Yi conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s cordial greetings to Hun Sen and stated that His Excellency’s recent visit to Beijing conveys to the world a clear message and firm commitment to carrying forward and deepening the time-honored friendship between China and Cambodia. With the care and support of the leaders of both countries, the first meeting of China-Cambodia “2+2” strategic dialogue mechanism between foreign and defense ministers was successfully convened yesterday, yielding extensive consensus. Both sides agreed to firmly support each other in safeguarding core interests, deepen all-around cooperation, strengthen law enforcement and defense collaboration, and enhance multilateral coordination. It is believed that this mechanism will effectively boost strategic mutual trust, provide a new instrument for the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Cambodia, inject new substance into the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era, and play a significant role in jointly responding to global and regional challenges.

Wang Yi stated that in the face of a volatile and turbulent international environment, it is of great significance and contemporary value for China and Cambodia to consolidate and deepen cooperation, which serves the immediate and long-term interests of both sides. China cherishes the friendship between the two countries, which was forged by the older generation of leaders, and is fully confident in the future development of bilateral relations. China is ready to work with Cambodia in the spirit of friendship, overcome external interference, maintain high-level exchanges, uphold mutual support, expand pragmatic cooperation, and strengthen political security and law enforcement collaboration with Cambodia. The two countries should coordinate high-quality development with high-level security, so as to ensure that the path of building an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era becomes ever broader.
