The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Holds the 2026 Chinese New Year Carnival

Yangon, February 7 (AseanAll)  —  From February 5th to 6th, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar held the 2026 “Chinese New Year Carnival” at the National Theatre of Yangon. 

The event brought together over 2,000 people, including Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia, Myanmar’s Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, along with other senior government officials, diplomatic envoys from various countries stationed in Myanmar, overseas Chinese, Chinese-funded institutions, students from China, and friends from all walks of life in Myanmar.

Ambassador Ma Jia extended her New Year greetings to the guests, stating that China’s development has brought greater stability and certainty into the world. China-Myanmar relations have advanced steadily, with deepening mutual understanding and affinity between the two peoples. She expressed the hope that in the Year of the Horse, the two countries would break new ground and work together to deliver more benefits to their peoples.

Myanmar Prime Minister U Nyo Saw looked back on the “Pauk-Phaw” friendship between Myanmar and China, expressed gratitude for China’s assistance in earthquake relief and support for Myanmar’s peace process. He expressed hope that the two countries would further expand cooperation across all sectors and extended his best wishes for China’s continued prosperity and the lasting good-neighborly and friendly relationship between Myanmar and China.

The event featured joint performances by cultural troupes and overseas Chinese communities, alongside on-site exhibitions of Spring Festival cultural customs and traditional Chinese cuisine, and the public actively engaged with these cultural elements. The event received strong support from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the China Cultural Center in Yangon.
