China offers humanitarian assistance worth 20 million Yuan to Thailand

Bangkok, January 15 (AseanAll)  — On January 15, 2026, Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul to present financial donation of 10 million Yuan and relief supplies worth 10 million Yuan, a total value of 20 million Yuan, for humanitarian assistance to Thailand.

The Prime Minister expressed appreciation toward the Chinese Government and people for their generosity and goodwill given to the Thai people, which demonstrates long-standing and close friendship between the two countries. He also mentioned the diplomatic relations and comprehensive cooperation between Thailand and China which continue to prosper.

The Chinese Ambassador expressed condolences over the fatal accident related to the Thai Chinese high-speed railway development project. The Chinese Government has placed high priority on the project’s safety, and ordered concerned Chinese companies to fully cooperate with the Thai authority regarding the incident investigation and verification. The Ambassador emphasized that the Thai Chinese high-speed railway development is an important project under strategic cooperation between Thailand and China, and the latter stands ready to continue with the cooperation in a close and transparent manner.

The Prime Minister commended China’s humanitarian assistance which reflects the Chinese Government’s genuine goodwill toward Thailand as a close and trusted friend. The relations of Thailand and China are those of “brothers” based on mutual trust, mutual respect, and mutual support in times of difficulty. Over the past several decades, the two countries have worked closely together in all dimensions.

The Prime Minister hoped for China’s consideration on purchasing 500,000 tons of Thai rice, in line with the discussion outcome between him and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He also called on China to encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Thailand. The Chinese Ambassador affirmed China’s readiness to push for the import of Thai rice to meet the target within this year, and to continue supporting Chinese tourism to Thailand. This is in order to further strengthen economic stability and strategic partnership between Thailand and China.

The Chinese Ambassador also commended the Thai Government for its resolute and tangible measures in suppressing scammers and call‑center gangs and expressed appreciation for Thailand’s close collaboration with China in assisting and repatriating Chinese nationals who have fallen victim to, or been involved in, such operations. Call‑center scams are transnational crime that have severely harmed the people of both countries, and China is ready to advance cooperation with Thailand in law enforcement, information exchange, and proactive operations to eradicate these criminal networks in a sustainable manner.
