Jakarta, January 13 (AseanAll) — ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn recently reiterated that ASEAN firmly adheres to the one-China policy.
On 13 January 2026, Fu Fengshan, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Mission to ASEAN, met with ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn and exchanged views with him on China-ASEAN relations.
On US recent announcement of a large-scale arms sale package to China’s Taiwan region, Secretary-General Dr. Kao stated that respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity is an important principle enshrined in the ASEAN Charter. ASEAN upholds multilateralism, safeguards international law and firmly follows the one-China policy. This commitment has always been there and will never change.
