Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Attends Media Briefing on Newborn Giant Panda Cub in Indonesia

Bogor,January 8 (AseanAll)  — On January 6, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong was invited to attend and deliver remarks at the “Public Announcement of the 1st Giant Panda Cub Born in Indonesia” held by Taman Safari Indonesia in Bogor. 

Guests at the event watched a video showing the health examination of the panda cub 40 days after its birth. 

The event was attended by the Indonesian Minister of Forestry, the park director, infant care specialists from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, local overseas Chinese, as well as multiple Chinese and Indonesian media outlets.

Wang Lutong stated that the successful birth of the cub to giant panda “Hu Chun”, currently residing in Indonesia, is the result of the joint efforts of Chinese and Indonesian expert teams in giant panda breeding, as well as the professional dedication and meticulous care provided by Taman Safari Indonesia. The birth of the panda cub is a symbol of the profound friendship between China and Indonesia, carrying our shared aspirations for peace, goodwill, and cooperation, and serves as a successful example of bilateral collaboration. 

The Ambassador said that China places great importance on the conservation of ecological resources and biodiversity, advocates for building a shared future for all life on earth, and actively advances global ecological and biodiversity governance. To date, China and Indonesia have engaged in extensive cooperation and achieved fruitful outcomes in areas such as the protection of endangered species, restoration of coral reefs and mangroves, plant breeding and genetic resource conservation. Aim for achieving eco-friendly modernization, the two sides will further deepen cooperation and exchanges, contributing more significantly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
