Brunei expresses concern on the developments in Venezuela

(AseanAll)  — The Brunei Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on January 5th regarding the situation in Venezuela.

The statement stated that Brunei Darussalam expresses concern on the developments in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and continues to closely monitor the situation..

" We underscore the importance of upholding international law and principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of all states," the statement  said.

Brunei Darussalam emphasizes the need to ensure the protection and well-being of the Venezuelan people, and respect their legitimate right to decide their future.

The statement calls on all parties concerned to exercise restraint and to settle differences by peaceful means, including through genuine dialogue and diplomacy without resorting to threat or use of force. In this regard, Brunei Darussalam supports all efforts towards promoting de-escalation for an inclusive and peaceful resolution on the situation in Venezuela, in accordance with international law.
