(AseanAll) — The Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam received an official visit from General Romeo Saturnino Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, on October 15, 2025.
Upon arrival at the Bolkiah Garrison, Romeo Saturnino Brawner Jr. was welcomed by Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), and was accorded a General Salute followed by an inspection of the Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF).

General Romeo Saturnino Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, later paid a Courtesy Call on Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II.

During the call, both sides reaffirmed the strong and enduring defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines, and exchanged views on regional and geopolitical developments of mutual interest. Yang Berhormat Pehin also emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation through joint training, expertise sharing, and mutual exchanges between the two Armed Forces.
Earlier, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines called on the Commander of the RBAF, during which he expressed appreciation for the RBAF’s continued support and cooperation in strengthening the close ties between both Armed Forces, while reaffirming the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ commitment to further enhance this cooperation.

During his stay in Brunei Darussalam, General Romeo Saturnino Brawner Jr. also visited various units under the RBAF, as well as cultural and historical sites of Brunei Darussalam.
