Indonesia–Saudi Arabia Business Forum Encourages Trade, Investment, and Banking Cooperation

(AseanAll)  — The Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, in collaboration with Bank Indonesia, organized the “Indonesia–Saudi Arabia Business, Investment Forum and Trade Promotion” on 7 October 2025 at the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh. The event aimed to strengthen trade, investment, and banking relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. It was attended by officials and business representatives from both countries, including members of the Riyadh and Hafr Al Bathin Chambers of Commerce, as well as importers of Indonesian products based in Riyadh.

In his remarks, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmad, highlighted the Indonesian Government’s efforts to improve the investment climate through regulatory simplification, infrastructure development, and encouraging partnerships between the private sectors of both countries.

The discussion session featured a presentation by Nova Herlangga, Head of IIPC Abu Dhabi, on Indonesia’s investment potential, as well as presentations by three project owners from Indonesia on investment opportunities in West Ancol (Jakarta), Balikpapan Waste Management, and the copper processing industry in East Java.

Forum participants shared various inputs, including the need for more information dissemination on Saudi regulations (SABER and Halal Certification), enhanced banking cooperation, increased frequency of direct flights, and clearer explanations regarding Indonesia’s investment regulations. Several Saudi business representatives expressed interest in cooperating in waste management, agriculture, poultry farming, and coal mining in Kalimantan.

As part of the series of activities, on 6–7 October 2025, the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh also held an Indonesian MSME Products Exhibition, featuring 17 booths showcasing food, beverages, and apparel supported by Bank Indonesia. The exhibition was attended by Saudi business representatives, the diplomatic community, and the general public in Riyadh.

On the sidelines, the Bank Indonesia delegation also met with Saudi National Bank (SNB) and Banque Saudi Fransi (BSF) to discuss technical cooperation in banking and cross-border payment systems.

This series of events reflects the strong commitment of both countries to expand economic and investment cooperation, while opening new opportunities for Indonesian and Saudi entrepreneurs. The forum, exhibition, and bilateral meetings underscored that dialogue and information exchange serve as a strategic foundation for enhancing sustainable economic relations.
