Vietnam, Tuvalu establish diplomatic relations

(AseanAll)  — Viet Nam and Tuvalu officially established diplomatic relations, raising the total number of countries having diplomatic ties with Viet Nam to 195.

According to Vietnamese government portal(VGP),Vietnamese Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung and Tuvalu's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labor and Trade Paulson Panapa signed a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations in New York, the U.S., on September 24,2025.

Viet Nam has become one of the few countries in the world establishing diplomatic relations with all United Nations member states (currently 193 members).

During the meeting between the two ministers, both sides affirmed that the signing of the Joint Communiqué is a historic milestone, laying the foundation for cooperative relations between the two countries.

They vowed to continue discussions to promote concrete cooperation activities in areas where both sides have potential, such as the maritime economy, tourism, and education and work closely together at multilateral forums of which both countries are members.
