(AseanAll) — Before leaving for the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Assembly in Malaysia, a high-level Cambodian parliamentary delegation led by Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, proudly visited the newly built Techo International Airport on the morning of September 16,2025.
Khuon Sudary and the delegation expressed their great excitement and pride over this historic achievement. She highlighted that this success was realized under the shade of peace, made possible by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Architect of Peace of Cambodia, who sacrificed everything to bring peace and development to the nation.
She further underlined that Cambodia continues to be safeguarded and advanced under the leadership of Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, a wise and dynamic young leader with strong determination to achieve the national vision of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.
The Techo International Airport commenced operations on 9 September 2025 and will be officially inaugurated on 20 October 2025 under the high presidency of Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the occasion of his birthday.
The operation of this large-scale international airport marks a significant milestone for Cambodia’s aviation, economic, and tourism sectors. It stands as a profound source of national pride and as one of the key international gateways for the Mekong region. Khuon Sudary emphasized that without peace there can be no development, urging all citizens to remain united in safeguarding peace for the benefit of future generations.
The airport, constructed on approximately 2,600 hectares of land spanning Kandal Stung district of Kandal province and parts of Bati district of Takeo province, is classified as a 4F-level international airport—the highest category in global aviation standards—capable of accommodating all types of aircraft, including the world’s largest passenger planes such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747.
