Yangon, August 24 (AseanAll)  — On 24 August, 2025, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Shi Zhongjun, visited the Myanmar-China Friendship Association (MCFA) in Yangon, and met with its President U Tin Oo, former Myanmar Ambassador to China.

U Tin Oo warmly welcomed Shi Zhongjun on his first visit to the Association. He fondly recalled the profound friendship and mutual support between Myanmar and China, his memorable meetings with Chinese leaders during his ambassador tenure in China. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese government for its prompt assistance following the major earthquake in Myanmar last March, as well as for the valuable support from various sectors of Chinese society for Myanmar’s economic recovery and social development. The MCFA, long dedicated to the bilateral friendship, looks forward to strengthening communication and exchanges with the ACC to advance more practical cooperation.

Shi Zhongjun introduced the mandate and priorities of the ACC. He highly commended U Tin Oo and the MCFA for their significant contributions to bilateral relations, emphasizing the deep “Paukphaw” friendship between the two neighboring countries. As the only inter-governmental organization jointly established by China and ten ASEAN Member States, the ACC stands ready to serve as a bridge, to mobilize resources, and support Myanmar’s post-disaster reconstruction and socio-economic development.

Both sides agreed to take this visit as a start and opportunity to enhance dialogue and exchanges, and focus on exploring practical cooperation projects in areas such as agriculture, poverty alleviation, education, and tourism, to deliver tangible benefits to the people and contribute to the friendship between the two nations and the peoples.
