Jakarta, August 14 (AseanAll) — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on August 14,2025 received a courtesy call from the Presidential Special Envoy of the Republic of Korea (ROK,South Korea ), led by Cho Jung-sik, senior member of the ROK National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea.
Special Envoy Cho conveyed President Lee Jae-myung’s commitment to strengthening the Special Strategic Partnership between Indonesia and the ROK, and extended an official invitation for President Prabowo to make a state visit to Seoul.
Earlier, the Special Envoy met with the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sugiono. In the meeting with the Foreign Minister , discussions covered Korea’s readiness to support President Prabowo’s priority programs under the Asta Cita agenda, as well as efforts to boost Korean investment in Indonesia, where more than 2,300 Korean companies are currently operating.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional issues, with the Special Envoy recognizing Indonesia’s pivotal role, including its contribution to advancing the ASEAN–ROK partnership.
The Indonesia–ROK Special Strategic Partnership, established in 2017, continues to grow. In 2024, bilateral trade reached USD 20 billion, while Korean investments totaled USD 3 billion.
