(AseanAll) — Dina Boluarte, President of the Republic of Peru, concluded her official visit to the ASEAN Headquarters / ASEAN Secretariat on August 11,2025, to strengthening the growing diplomatic ties between ASEAN and Peru.
The visit commenced with a formal welcome by the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, who greeted President Boluarte and her delegation. Also in attendance included Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Economic Community Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community San Lwin, members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR), as well as the Ambassador of Timor Leste to ASEAN.
The major highlights of the visit was a high-level interaction session with the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the CPR. During the discussions, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the President of Peru reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening relations, cooperation and partnership. As Chair of CPR, the Permanent Representative of Malaysia, Ambassador Sarah Al Bakri Devadason also provided an update on Malaysia’s priorities for 2025, including the successful adoption of the ASEAN Community Vision (2045) along with the four new Strategic Plans, and the imminent inclusion of Timor-Leste to ASEAN.
The session concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation between President Boluarte and Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao, symbolising the mutual goodwill between Peru and ASEAN. President Boluarte’s visit concluded after a final photo opportunity with the ASEAN Secretariat delegation, marking a significant milestone in the relationship between the two parties.
