(AseanAll) — The President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, J. Ramos-Horta, received the non-resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, Francisco de Assis Aguilera Arandan, at the Presidential Palace on July 23, 2025 for a farewell meeting.

The visit marked the end of the Ambassador’s term and served as an opportunity to reaffirm the excellent and close relations between Timor-Leste and Spain.
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strong bilateral ties based on a shared commitment to democracy, common values, and mutual principles. This solid foundation has fostered a strong partnership and opens the door for enhanced future cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
Ramos-Horta praised Spain for its principled stance on critical global issues, particularly its support for humanitarian causes in conflicts such as in Ukraine and Gaza. The leaders noted a clear alignment in the positions of both nations, emphasizing a shared commitment to supporting innocent victims and upholding international law and human dignity.
