Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Meets with Chinese Foreign Minister

Putrajaya, July 11 (AseanAll)  — On July 11, 2025, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met in Putrajaya with Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who came to Malaysia for the series of annual foreign ministers' meetings on East Asia cooperation.

Anwar Ibrahim asked Wang Yi to convey his cordial greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping, stating that China is a trustworthy friend and partner of Malaysia. President Xi Jinping's successful visit this year is a significant event in the history of Malaysia-China relations. President Xi Jinping's care and thoughts about the future and destiny of the world have earned the heartfelt respect of the Malaysian government and people. Friendship with China is a consensus of both the government and the people of Malaysia, and the fruitful cooperation in various fields between Malaysia and China has benefited the people of both countries. In today's world where multilateral mechanisms such as BRICS are growing stronger and countries are pursuing independence, development and prosperity, China has played a leading role, which Malaysia deeply appreciates.

Wang Yi conveyed the cordial greetings of Chinese leaders. Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping paid a successful state visit to Malaysia in April this year, during which both sides announced the building of a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future. Under the joint guidance of the leaders of China and Malaysia, the China-Malaysia relationship has been at its best in history. China is a sincere friend of Malaysia and is ready to work with Malaysia to follow through on the important common understandings reached between the leaders of both countries and to make in-depth and solid progress in the building of the high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future. China fully supports Malaysia's role as the rotating chair of ASEAN, supports Malaysia in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs, and looks forward to continuous, new steps in China-ASEAN cooperation.

Wang Yi said that the tide of history always moves forward, and the rise of the Global South is unstoppable. As developing countries, emerging economies, and key representatives of the Global South, China and Malaysia should join hands to address challenges and seek development and revitalization. The United States' unilateral imposition of high tariffs is irresponsible and unpopular. China will always stand with the vast number of developing countries, remain committed to high-level opening up, share the benefits of China's mega-sized market, and jointly make the pie of win-win cooperation bigger.

During the visit, Wang Yi also met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan.
