Indonesia Showcases Stronger Partnership with Cambodia at Sousdey 2025

(AseanAll)  —  The Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Dr. Santo Darmosumarto, together with the Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, Buon Sarakmony, officially inaugurated the trade and tourism exhibition Sousdey Indonesia 2025 at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center (DICEC), Phnom Penh, on June 14,2025,according to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 2.

The opening ceremony was attended by more than 100 invited guests from the Cambodian government, business associations, and local business partners.

This exhibition is the largest Indonesian product promotion event in Cambodia, held regularly since 2004.  This year, despite only featuring 52 exhibitors, the two-day event successfully recorded seven signings of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for business cooperation in the sectors of pharmaceuticals, beauty products, online training, and furniture.  In addition to retail transactions totaling US$ 47,000, the event also recorded potential follow-up transactions valued at US$ 1.34 million.

Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, Dr. Santo Darmosumarto, underlined the importance of this exhibition as a means to strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, and education.  “We want Sousdey Indonesia to serve as a showcase of the close partnership between Indonesia and Cambodia, as well as a platform to build collaboration amid global competition,” said the Ambassador.

Beyond product exhibitions, the event also featured cultural performances, Indonesian culinary presentations, and the promotion of Indonesian higher education institutions that offer study opportunities for Cambodian students.  Over the course of two days, Sousdey Indonesia 2025 attracted approximately 3,000 visitors.

The exhibition also received support from various sponsors, including Smart Axiata, Prince Bank, Phillip Bank, Air Asia, Kino Cambodia, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (IndoCham).

The potential for cooperation between Indonesia and Cambodia remains very promising, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, education, and tourism.  The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh will continue to facilitate similar initiatives to further strengthen relations between the two countries.
