Jakarta, June 13 (AseanAll) — The 5th Brunei-Indonesia High Level Committee (BRUNESIA HLC) meeting between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) was held in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia on June 13,2025.
The meeting was co-chaired by Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the RBAF, and Yang Terhormat General TNI Agus Subiyanto, Chief of Defence Force of the Republic of Indonesia.
The programme began with a courtesy call between both Commanders, followed by a group photo session prior to the commencement of the BRUNESIA HLC Meeting. The programme concluded with a Gala Dinner attended by both delegations.
Since the signing of the Joint Understanding (JU) on BRUNESIA HLC in 2013, the RBAF and TNI have carried out various forms of bilateral defence cooperation under this mechanism. The JU serves as the foundation for structured engagement through the BRUNESIA HLC framework.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the outcomes of the 4th BRUNESIA HLC and received joint progress updates from the four sub-committees under BRUNESIA HLC: Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee (JISC), Joint Operations and Exercises Sub-Committee (JOESC), Joint Training and Education Sub-Committee (JTESC), and Joint Logistics Sub-Committee (JLSC). Each sub-committee also presented its proposed two-year work plan for the period 2025–2026.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the meeting minutes, which reaffirmed both Armed Forces’ shared commitment towards enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. Both sides acknowledged the importance of sustained planning and coordination, not only to strengthen interoperability, but also to foster long-standing defence ties and mutual understanding between RBAF and TNI.
The RBAF expressed appreciation to the TNI for the warm hospitality and excellent arrangements extended throughout the programme.
Brunei Darussalam is scheduled to host the 6th BRUNESIA HLC Meeting, which is hoped to further strengthen the spirit of consensus and long-standing aspirations for joint defence.
