(AseanAll) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia received a courtesy visit from the Romanian Ambassador to Indonesia, Dan Adrian Balanescu, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on May 21,2025.
In the meeting, both parties expressed high appreciation for the well-established political relations between Indonesia and Romania, which can serve as a strong foundation to encourage economic cooperation to improve the welfare of the people in both countries.
Sugiono noted the significant potential for increased trade in flagship products between Indonesia and Romania, including the export of palm oil and paper products from Indonesia to Romania. Cooperation in food products was also a focus of discussion, considering the strategic value of agricultural trade for both countries.
In the defense sector, Romanian defense companies will attend the Indo Defense Exhibition in Jakarta from June 11-14, 2025. In addition, the increase in the number of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and Romania's demand for workers in the hospitality sector were also discussed.
The governments of both countries also support the continuous enhancement of various socio-cultural cooperation initiatives, including university collaborations to promote people-to-people connections between Indonesia and Romania. This year, Indonesia and Romania are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations.
