Cambodian Interior Minister and Russian Prosecutor General Praise Cooperation between Both Countries

Phnom Penh, May 28 (AseanAll)  — Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Aphi Santepundit Sar Sokha, Minister of Interior, and visiting Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov have praised the growing cooperation between Cambodia and Russia.

The commendation was made during their meeting in Phnom Penh on May 28,2025, where both sides recalled the long-standing diplomatic ties between the two nations and positively assessed the achievements of Cambodia–Russia cooperation, particularly in the area of interior affairs.

Sar Sokha highlighted the significance of the 11th meeting of the Cambodian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, held on April 28, 2025. He described the mechanism as vital for strengthening and expanding collaboration across various sectors between relevant ministries and institutions of the two countries.

He also expressed appreciation for the cooperation in law enforcement, thanking Russian institutions for providing a range of training programmes for Cambodian National Police officers.

During the meeting, Igor Krasnov briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on the core functions of the Russian Prosecutor’s Office and emphasised the importance of enhancing international legal cooperation—particularly in combating cross-border crimes. He affirmed that collaboration in this area is a key component of interstate relations.

On the occasion, both Aphi Santepundit Sar Sokha and  Igor Krasnov expressed their appreciation for the progress made and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and advancing bilateral cooperation in multiple fields.

In the same afternoon, the Anti-Corruption Unit of Cambodia represented by its Chairman  Kittinitikosalpundit Om Yentieng, and the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, represented by Igor Krasnov signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in combating corruption.
