Kuala Lumpur, May 27 (AseanAll) — On May 26, 2025, Thai Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub disclosed that Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra attended the signing ceremony of the “Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future” at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Malaysian Prime Minister delivered a statement prior to the signing, and invited ASEAN leaders on the stage to join in signing the “Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future”. The signed Declaration was, then, handed over to ASEAN Secretary General, followed by a group photo with hands holding the ASEAN Way.
The “ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future”, and related strategies, is a long-term strategic document that will chart the future direction of ASEAN in the next two decades. It articulates ASEAN’s aspiration towards realizing a resilient, innovative, dynamic and people-centered ASEAN Community by 2045. It also envisions a developed ASEAN as the epicenter of growth in the Indo-Pacific region.
According to the Thai Government Spokesperson, the “ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future” will support Thailand’s endeavor in strengthening relations and cooperation with countries within the region and beyond on the issues where Thailand wants to enhance its potential and those that are in line with the Government’s policies, i.e., safety and security, labor development, public health, connectivity, sustainable infrastructure development, and climate change.
