On August 22,2023, China Coast Guard(CCG) vessels gave stern warnings and conducted airway control to Philippine transport and repair vessels and coast guard vessels in waters off Ren 'ai Reef （PH calls it Ayungin Shoal）of Nansha Islands in accordance with the law.

CCG said that the on-site operations were reasonable, lawful and professional.
