Ambassador of South Korea to Thailand pays a courtesy call on Thai Foreign Minister

 (AseanAll)  — On 8 April 2025, Park Yongmin, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK, South Korea) to Thailand, paid an introductory courtesy call on Maris Sangiamponsa, Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides discussed strengthening the Thailand-ROK Strategic Partnership in all dimensions. Special emphasis was given to boosting economic cooperation amidst global economic uncertainties, through the utilization of the Thailand-ROK Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) which is currently under negotiation. 

On investment, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed readiness to faciliate more investment in Thailand from ROK businesses, especially in research and development (R&D). He also welcomed the signing of the Thailand-ROK Agreement on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy.

Ambassador Park also provided updates on the political situation in the ROK, to which the Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Thailand’s trust and commitment to continue driving forward its Strategic Partnership with the ROK, as well as readiness to exchange high-level visits at the earliest opportunity.

On regional issues, both sides exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the situation in Myanmar.
