Nusantara Capital Airport Ready for flight tryouts

(AseanAll)  — Nusantara Capital Airport is ready for flight tryouts, Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono has said.

“This morning, Minister of Transportation landed at this airport using Cessna. We are going to have RJ-85 try out the airport,” he said to the press following Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s meeting with officials of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) at the State Palace of Nusantara Capital in East Kalimantan province, Indonesia on September 12,2024.

According to a report to the President, the Cessna tryout showed that the airport was in good condition.

“The pilot said it was good. He said that he felt the grip on the asphalt,” Basuki said, adding that the RJ-85 aircraft tryout would be scheduled shortly.

Basuki further stated that if the tryouts go well, the airport will be ready for presidential activities in the future.

“If it is [ready], the President will carry out activities at this airport,” he said.

With these tryouts, Nusantara Capital Airport will soon be fully ready to support operations in the new capital and upcoming presidential activities.
