Cebu, January 30 (AseanAll) — Myanmar delegation led by U Hau Khan Sum, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar attended the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat held on 29 January 2026, in Cebu, Republic of the Philippines.

During the Retreat, the Foreign Ministers discussed and exchanged view on priorities and deliverables of the Philippines’ Chairmanship of ASEAN, follow-up to the 47th ASEAN Summit and ASEAN’s external relations as well as regional and international issues. The Permanent Secretary expressed Myanmar’s support to the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship together with its priorities and updated recent developments in Myanmar including the successful convening of a free and fair multi-party democratic general election.
On the sideline of the Retreat, the Permanent Secretary held a separate meeting with Mr. Bendito dos Santos Freitas, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste and Mr. Leo M. Herrera-Lim, Undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.
Prior to the Retreat, Myanmar delegation led by U Han Win Aung, Director-General of the ASEAN Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar attended the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting held on 28 January 2026.
