Bangkok, January 5 (AseanAll) — On January 5, 2026, at the Outer Santi Maitri Building, Thai Government House, Thai Government Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat disclosed that Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the Buddhist ritual on occasion of the New Year 2026.

Participating in the ceremony were Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister Borwornsak Uwanno, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow, PM’s Secretary General Traisuree Taisaranakul, political officials and heads of agencies under Prime Minister’s Office, and Government House officials.
Upon arrival, the Thai Prime Minister lit candle and incense sticks to pay homage to the Triple Gems. Following the chanting by 10 senior monks, he led all the participants to present the monks with the triple robes and offerings. The monks chanted to accept the offerings before the Prime Minister poured the water of dedication, received the blessing, and paid homage to the Triple Gems and the senior monks. Somdet Phra Phutthachan of Wat Traimit Temple, then, sprinkled lustral water to end the ceremony.
The Prime Miniter, cabinet members, and all the participants, then, attended the almsgiving ceremony to give the alms to 69 monks, before paying homage to the sacred shrines in the Government House for auspiciousness.
