Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Attends the Four-Party Meeting Among Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the United States

Kuala Lumpur, October 13 (AseanAll)  — On 12 October 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, PRAK Sokhonn, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,  attended the Four-Party Meeting among Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the United States, at the invitation of Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. 

The Meeting expressed the common desire to attain peace and stability between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as in the region as a whole. In this regard, it reaffirmed its firm commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes, the non-use of force and respect for international law.

In his opening remarks, Sokhonn expressed his sincere appreciation to Malaysia and the United States for their constructive efforts in facilitating the Four-Party Meeting. He underscored the importance of ensuring the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire terms and all agreements reached under the frameworks of the General Border Committee (GBC), the Regional Border Committee (RBC), and the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), stressing sincerity must be demonstrated through tangible actions on the ground. He underscored that, as a country scarred by decades or even centuries of conflicts,  Cambodia knows too well the devastating consequences of war. "This is precisely why we have always held peace as our most precious treasure"... " Cambodia has consistently stood for peaceful resolution of disputes, in full conformity with international laws. We habor no desire to take what is not ours, but at the same time we will not accept losing what is rightfully belongs to us. What we seek is a fair, just impartial, and rules-based solution  - one that can ensure long-lasting peace for our peoples", he continued.

In this connection, Sokhonn highlighted several key priority tasks that both sides have agreed recently to jointly de-escalating tensions, rebuilding trust, strengthening cooperation, including the removal of heavy and destructive weapons, humanitarian demining, combating transnational crimes, managing civilian settlements in border areas, and countering false information and fake news. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to working with Thailand as permanent neighbors in fulfilling our shared responsibilities to restore normalization, peace, stability, and prosperity between the two nations and peoples.
