Indonesia Reaffirms Commitment to Tackle Global Climate Change, Health Crisis

 (AseanAll)  — On the second day of the 2025 BRICS Summit, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on July 7, 2025 attended a meeting adopting the theme “Environment, COP30, and Global Health” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir highlighted that the world is dealing with pressing global challenges due to climate change. Thus, Indonesia is committed to playing an active role in addressing these issues.

“In the session, Mr. President emphasized that Indonesia is already experiencing tangible impacts of climate change, and he reaffirmed Indonesia’s dedication to tackling climate change, particularly through the implementation of clean energy initiatives,” the Vice Minister told the journalist after accompanying President Prabowo at the meeting.

According to him, several participating countries also reiterated their commitment to resolve climate change problems, emphasizing collaboration in the lead-up to the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30), to be held in Belém, Brazil.

“Many nations shared their commitment to tackling climate change and are actively preparing for COP30 in Belém,” he said.

In addition to environmental concerns, the Vice Minister stated that President Prabowo also talked about global health challenges.

“Mr. President expressed Indonesia’s commitment and continued support for the WHO in global health matters,” he remarked.
