Indonesian Navy Strengthens Its Fleet with KRI Brawijaya-320, a New Frigate from Italy

La Spezia, July 3 (AseanAll)  — The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Italy,  Junimart Girsang, attended the handover ceremony of KRI Brawijaya-320 at the Fincantieri Shipyard in La Spezia, Italy, on 2 July 2025. 

The ceremony was attended by delegations from both Indonesia and Italy, including the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL), the Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Rome, and the CEO of Fincantieri.

During the ceremony, the CEO of Fincantieri delivered remarks and signed the official Handover Document. The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy also delivered a speech, officiated the commissioning of the vessel, and formally appointed the Commander of KRI Brawijaya-320.

KRI Brawijaya-320 is a frigate constructed by Fincantieri as part of a procurement contract signed in April 2024. This vessel will enhance the Indonesian Navy's fleet and is expected to significantly strengthen Indonesia’s maritime defense capabilities.

Following the ceremony, KRI Brawijaya-320 is scheduled to depart for Indonesia on 12 July 2025. The arrival of this frigate is anticipated to bolster the operational readiness and naval power of the Indonesian Navy in safeguarding the nation's maritime sovereignty.
