Dili, July 1 (AseanAll) — The President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, J. Ramos-Horta, received the new President of the Board of Directors of Radio and Television of Timor-Leste, Public Enterprise (RTTL, EP), Elizeu Isaac Fernandes at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace on July 1, 2025.
During the meeting, the RTTL, EP leader informed the Head of State about the recent celebrations of the broadcaster’s 23rd anniversary and presented an update on the progress of programs promoted by the Presidency of the Republic, highlighting the good reception from the public.
The meeting also served to address the main challenges faced by the institution, particularly the technical constraints that have caused delays in the construction of RTTL, EP’s new headquarters. According to Elizeu Fernandes, the delays are due to the need to conduct additional soil studies to ensure that the building’s foundations meet the highest international standards of safety and quality required by development partners.
President Ramos-Horta expressed full confidence in the new leadership of RTTL, EP, and encouraged them to continue their essential work for public information. He also reaffirmed the Presidency of the Republic’s commitment to support the station in overcoming its obstacles, emphasizing the strategic role of RTTL, EP in promoting access to information, civic education, and strengthening democracy in Timor-Leste.
