Dili, June 16 (AseanAll) — The President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, J. Ramos-Horta, received the Irish Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Padraig Francis, in a farewell courtesy visit, held at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace on June 16, 2025.
The meeting marked the end of Ambassador Francis’s diplomatic mandate in the country, during which he expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve in Timor-Leste and closely follow the nation’s progress.
The Head of State emphasized the deep and lasting bonds of friendship between Timor-Leste and Ireland, praising Ireland’s firm support throughout Timor-Leste’s independence process and its continued commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
Ramos-Horta also thanked the diplomat for his encouraging comments about the progress recorded in the country, as well as his confidence in a promising future for the nation. He also highlighted Ireland’s consistent role as a committed partner in Timor-Leste’s development.
The President also expressed his deep gratitude for Ireland’s commitment to international peace, human rights, and universal dignity.
Finally, he wished Ambassador Francis complete success in his future missions and reaffirmed Timor-Leste’s commitment to maintaining close and lasting cooperation with Ireland.
