The 5th Myanmar-Philippines Foreign Policy Consultations hold in Manila

Manila, May 22 (AseanAll)  — The 5th Myanmar-Philippines Foreign Policy Consultations co-chaired by U Ko Ko Kyaw, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Mr. Leo M. Herrera-Lim, Undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, was held at the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines in Manila on the morning of 18 May 2026.

At the meeting, they cordially exchanged views on enhancing diplomatic relations and cooperation, strengthening trade and investment ties, advancing energy cooperation, and combatting transnational crimes, and promoting people-to-people contacts. The discussion further covered Myanmar’s political developments including the key priorities of the newly elected Government and Myanmar’s cooperation to normalize its relations with ASEAN. 

The two sides exchanged views on regional and global issues such as the ongoing conflict in Middle East and its impact on the region as well as the matters of common interest of both countries.

After the meeting, the Myanmar delegation led by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs attended the luncheon hosted by Undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Mr. Leo M. Herrera-Lim.

On the evening of 18 May 2026, U Ko Ko Kyaw visited the Myanmar Embassy in Manila, the Philippines. Following a tour of the Embassy, he met the Embassy staff and gave necessary guidance to them.
