(AseanAll) — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with global philanthropist and founder of the Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, at the Landmark Room, 29th Floor, Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza Hotel, on September 23, 2025.
In the meeting that took place on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Prabowo not only discussed opportunities for cooperation and collaboration in various fields but also awarded Bintang Jasa Utama medal to Bill Gates in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to the welfare of humanity.
Upon arrival at the meeting location, Prabowo and Bill Gates shook hands and took photos together, then followed by a meeting. In his press statement, Prabowo said that the meeting with Bill Gates was very positive. According to the President, Bill Gates has shown great concern and made huge contributions to Indonesia, particularly in the field of healthcare.
“Support for research, finding the best seeds, medicines, vaccines,” said the President.
Therefore, Prabowo awarded Bintang Jasa Utama medal to William Henry Gates III, or Bill Gates, in recognition of his exceptional services and dedication across various sectors that have greatly contributed to the safety, welfare, and glory of the nation and the state.

Furthermore, the President stated that the Indonesian Government, through Danantara, continues to collaborate with the Bill Gates Foundation on humanitarian projects. “Projects to help the weakest, to eradicate poverty and hunger, and also [projects on] education, especially education, since it is the key to our future,” he concluded.
At the meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming-cum-CEO of Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
